Boulder Park brings 3D-printed boulder park design into community play as a pioneering landscape in Jinan, China that blends technology, nature, and childhood adventure. Spanning thirteen thousand square meters, the park is divided into thematic zones including the All-Age Boulder Playground, Water Garden, Forest Garden, Stone Garden, and Flower Garden. At its center are sculptural caverns and rock-like forms created through robotic-arm 3D concrete printing, producing smooth, organically curved structures in a single piece, a feat not possible with traditional methods.
Interactive elements such as slides, tunnels, speaking tubes, and climbing surfaces are seamlessly built into the printed formations. The Water Garden features bubbling streams, fountains, and playful water devices, all designed with rounded edges for safety. With 3D-printed concrete exceeding C40 strength standards at 50 MPa, the structures ensure durability while maintaining their fluid, natural aesthetic. The project shows how advanced fabrication can transform public spaces into immersive, community-focused environments.
