One of the greatest westerns of all time is free to stream

One of my favorite film genres is, without a doubt, the western. There’s something about the high stakes, lawlessness, and action in these movies that I just love, and I think it’s more than fair to say that the western genre has given us some of the most memorable films of all time. A few of my favorites that spring to mind are Tombstone, No Country for Old Men, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and the original The Magnificent Seven (1960).

But if there’s one western movie I’d classify as truly legendary and among the best ever made — a film that pushed the envelope when it was released, left a lasting mark on the genre, and has stood the test of time — it’s The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. It’s an iconic movie that also stars one of the most legendary actors of all time, Clint Eastwood, and was directed by the equally legendary Sergio Leone.

Debuting in 1966, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly follows three gunslingers on a race to find a buried stash of gold. The first is Blondie, played by Clint Eastwood, a clever and calculating drifter. The second is Tuco, a chaotic outlaw played by Eli Wallach, and the third is Angel Eyes, a ruthless gunman played by Lee Van Cleef.

Set during the American Civil War, the three men form uneasy alliances, betray one another, and constantly try to outsmart each other as they chase buried gold and the fortune that comes with it.

If you’ve always wanted to watch The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, or you’ve been looking for an excuse to rewatch it, there’s no better time than now. The legendary western is currently streaming for free on Tubi, but only for a limited time.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is leaving Tubi soon

Stream this legendary western for free before it’s too late

As part of the additions it made to its free content library in May, Tubi added The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, meaning you can stream the film for free right now. The only catch is that you’ll have to sit through some occasional ads, since Tubi is a free ad-supported streaming service.

However, while the film is currently available to stream for free, it won’t be around forever. According to Tubi, the last day to stream the movie is June 30.

So if you’re looking for something to watch this weekend, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is an excellent choice before it disappears from Tubi’s free library.

If you’d prefer an ad-free experience, the film is available in 4K on Prime Video through its paid MGM+ subscription channel. Or, if you’d rather add it to your physical media collection, you can also pick up a copy in 4K Ultra HD from Amazon.
