One of the best spy movies of all time is finally free to stream

There are plenty of iconic franchises in pop culture today. Off the top of my head, there’s Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, The Lord of the Rings, not to mention all the films that make up the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DC Universe. But hands down, one of the oldest and most iconic film franchises of all time is James Bond. Since 1962’s Dr. No, starring Sean Connery, there have been 25 James Bond films, but one of the best, and arguably the film that helped save the franchise, is Casino Royale.

Casino Royale debuted in theaters in 2006, directed by Martin Campbell, the same director behind 1995’s GoldenEye. But before Casino Royale even hit the big screen, it was already making headlines for the casting of Daniel Craig as James Bond, a decision many initially questioned. However, when the film finally arrived, those concerns quickly disappeared, as Casino Royale’s incredible action and drama proved that Daniel Craig was, without a doubt, James Bond.

Casino Royale follows James Bond, who has recently been promoted to a 00 agent at MI6. After his promotion, Bond embarks on his first major mission to stop Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen), a banker who finances terrorists, by trying to defeat him in a high-stakes poker game at the Casino Royale in Montenegro.

If you’ve never seen Casino Royale, or you’re looking to rewatch it, you’ll soon be able to do so without paying a dime, as it’s finally going to be available to stream for free on May 1.

Casino Royale will be available on Tubi starting May 1

Watch the start of Daniel Craig’s Bond outing for free

Tubi has a long list of shows and movies that will be debuting on its service for free on May 1, and among them is Casino Royale. While the movie will be free to stream, you will have to watch some ads during the movie, as Tubi is a free ad-supported streaming service. Though I think it’s worth watching a couple of ads to see one of the best spy thrillers of all time without swiping your credit card.

That said, if you do want an ad-free experience, there are a couple of options: you can easily buy or rent the film on YouTube or Prime Video. Additionally, the film is available on both Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD if you’d like to add it to your physical media collection.

There is also another Bond film hitting Tubi for free on May 1: No Time To Die (2021), Daniel Craig’s final outing as the character. So if you want to watch both the beginning and the end of Craig’s time as Bond, you can do so for free on Tubi this May.
