Oliver Tree's team has announced plans to establish a foundation in his memory.

On Sunday, June 21 — one week after the singer-songwriter died in a helicopter accident in Brazil on June 14 at the age of 32 — Tree's team shared a post on his official Instagram account, revealing that his body had been transported back to his home in California.

"Rest in peace Oliver Tree Nickell," the post began. "Your legacy will live on forever. ❤️."

"Oliver is now back in California where he can finally rest," the team wrote. "His legacy will live on through his foundation/endowment named 'Dr. Oliver Tree’s Extremely Epic Grant For Baby Geniuses' coming soon. This is something that Oliver had put together before his passing, written in his will. We will make sure his wish comes to fruition so that more joy, love and art can be spread into the world. That was his final wish."

"Thank you to everyone who has reached out, shown love, support and has done incredible tributes for Oliver," the post continued. "The constant love, support and positivity is helping the family, friends and collaborators make it through these extremely difficult times."

"Love you all so much, Oliver would be so proud of every one of his supporters, friends and family," the message concluded. "Peace be with Oliver … ❤️."

Tree was among six fatalities in a crash involving two helicopters that collided in Rio de Janeiro on June 14, according to CNN Brazil.

The Civil Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro confirmed the crash in a statement obtained by PEOPLE and said the investigation remained ongoing.

"A forensic examination was conducted at the scene, and agents are awaiting the report from the Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents," police said. 

"The bodies of the six victims will undergo forensic examination for identification, which will be compared to data in the records of the Air Operations Center," the statement concluded.

The indie pop musician had previously been candid about his desire to financially support up-and-coming artists. During an appearance on the Zach Sang Show in April, he discussed the restrictions around his will.

"When I die — I've set it up — my will is set up that when I pass, my family, no one's going to get a penny," the "Miss You" singer said.

"If I have a wife or kids or anything, [they're] not getting a penny. I'll get my kids through college — that's the agreement. But there's not going to be a silver spoon — they're taken care of 'because my dad worked on some stuff in the 2000s,' " Tree continued. "The idea is, when I die, all the money is going to go back to artists."

Tree, who was on a world tour at the time of the crash, was set to play in Lisbon, Portugal, on July 1, according to his website. The tour was in support of his latest album, Love You Madly Hate You Badly.
