New York Giants star Malik Nabers is ‘stopped by police’ in bizarre case of mistaken identity as they chased road rage suspect

New York Giants receiver Malik Nabers was stopped by New Jersey police on Tuesday, only for officers to discover they’d mistaken the NFL star for their suspect.

Footage surfaced on social media Tuesday, purportedly showing Nabers standing alongside a Tesla Cybertruck alongside several Paramus police officers.

Naturally, that led to fears among fans that the 22-year-old former first-round pick was in trouble with the law.

Fortunately for Nabers and Giants fans, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and ESPN’s Jordan Ranaan have both reported that the receiver is not in any trouble.

Rather, Nabers was reportedly stopped over a road rage report involving someone with a similar vehicle. Police searched Nabers’ truck, according to Garafolo, but no weapons were discovered and he was allowed to leave without any citation.

The Daily Mail has sought confirmation with Paramus police and Nabers’ agents.

Giants fans were understandably relieved. One posted: ‘Whatever you hear don’t believe it. Nothing happened….. he’s good THAT’S IT, THAT’S THE STORY.’

Despite the good news regarding Nabers, the Giants could still find themselves shorthanded at wideout entering training camp.

Since undergoing season-ending knee surgery in 2025, Nabers required a second procedure recently to remove scar tissue that was causing him stiffness.

Now there is a chance he could be unavailable when the Giants open their season against the rival Dallas Cowboys in September.

Recently, receiver Gunner Olszewski suffered a potentially season-ending Achilles injury while veteran wideout Darius Slayton continues to recover from hernia surgery.

In response to the wave of injuries, the Giants signed a trio of veterans to non-guaranteed deals: Odell Beckham Jr., Braxton Berrios and JuJu Smith-Schuster.

Beckham Jr, a 33-year-old former Giants star, has been out of the league since having his contract with the Miami Dolphins terminated in December 2024, and he spent six weeks of last season suspended for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drugs policy.

Neither Beckham, Berrios nor Smith-Schuster are guaranteed to make the Giants out of training camp.
