A follow-up to Netflix’s endearing miniseries, Adolescence, was hinted at the Golden Globe awards in January by the show’s co-creator and actor, Stephen Graham. According to a report by Daily Mail’s Harriet Kean, Kate Winslet will play the lead in a second series of the widely popular psychological drama, Adolescence, that will follow a different plot this time.

“It’s happening and in development. There’s excitement that Kate’s on board,” an industry insider revealed to the Daily Mail.

Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne both stated that the story of Jamie and his family was over and implied that a fresh plot would be followed by any return to the format, which creatively filmed entire episodes in a single shot. But it is likely to continue examining the negative aspects of youth, once against.

The Oscar-winning star, who is well-known for movies like Titanic, The Reader, and  Avatar: Fire & Ash, has also received recognition for miniseries like The Regime and Mare of Easttown. The actress has previously featured in something along similar lines to Adolescence, adding more substance to the Daily Mail’s claim. In the 2022 drama I Am Ruth, which is about teenage sadness brought on by social media, the actor starred opposite her daughter Mia Threapleton.

For the unversed, Adolescence was a harrowing account of what the internet is doing to the children these days.
