The two main participants in a brawl between the Atlanta Hawks and the New York Knicks received heavy fines for their involvement in an ugly fight during an even uglier game.

Late in the first half, Hawks star Dyson Daniels and Knicks big man Mitchell Robinson were fighting for position during a free throw attempt.

The two began yelling at each other and clinched on before teammates separated the pair.

Robinson and Daniels continued to go after each other despite having multiple people attempting to keep them separate.

Both players were ejected from the contest for the rest of the evening, with the possibility of further punishment.

On Friday night, the NBA dished that punishment out – fining Robinson $50,000 for his role while Daniels was fined $25,000, according to an official league communication.

The Knicks’ 47-point halftime lead in Atlanta on Thursday was the largest in playoff history

In the official press release, the league said Robinson’s fine was bigger due to ‘his inappropriate post on social media in reference to the incident.’ 

Robinson posted a bizarre video to his Instagram story of an animated mouse singing profanities, which were directed toward Daniels without tagging the player.

The fight occurred during an awful first half for the Hawks where they finished down 47 points.

That set the record for the largest halftime deficit in NBA history and was too large for Atlanta to overcome.

OG Anunoby scored 29 points in 27 minutes and Karl-Anthony Towns had his second triple-double of the series as the Knicks recorded their biggest playoff victory in franchise history, overwhelming and eliminating the Hawks 140-89 in Game 6.

In an astonishing beatdown at State Farm Arena, the visitors racked up the largest halftime playoff lead ever when they went in at the interval 83-36 ahead in Atlanta.
