Moment terrified delivery driver scrambles over fence to escape customer’s small dogs

Video captured the moment a delivery driver scrambled over a fence and climbed on top of a rubbish bin after he was approached by a pair of small dogs.

Footage shows the man clutching a Subway order as he rings the doorbell at a house in Lichfield, Staffordshire on September 5.

But he suddenly throws the food onto the floor and is forced to run into another person’s property when two dogs appear – swiftly mounting a black dustbin.

As the barking animals surround him he stands with one foot on the bin and the other on the fence, before the dogs’ perplexed owner emerges.

Lydia Starkey, 27, who was in the back garden at the time, said she had no idea her brother had ordered the delivery.

The 27-year-old had opened the gate, allowing one of the dogs to burst out, before shouting for help.

Ms Starkey’s mother was feeding her newborn baby while her partner was in the shower, and her brother was unable to hear the commotion.

In the meantime the driver ran around to a neighbour’s front garden and climbed onto bins to escape.

After checking on the driver, Ms Starkey said the family ‘eventually saw the funny side’.

She said: ‘After making sure the driver was okay, we did find it funny. These things happen with dogs getting out.’

A video of the interaction has been viewed over 860,000 times online, with 5,400 likes.

One person joked: ‘Poor dog got a footlong thrown at its head!’

But another added: ‘Doesn’t matter if he won’t bite some people are terrified of dogs no matter how big or small… not everyone is a dog lover.’

A third said: ‘I’ve never seen someone panic so much over 2 small dogs.’

Another said: ‘I’m commenting and crying as it’s still playing but it’s cheered me up.

‘I’m sorry but delivery drivers take the job knowing anything could happen including dogs escaping and barking, if you got a sign on the gate saying you have dogs and he didn’t take notice he definitely can’t moan.’
