A mother of five has been left seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle while riding an e-scooter in Victoria, Australia, on Mother’s Day.
On Sunday, May 10, Tania Kerr, 41, was put into a coma after being struck in a hit-and-run just after midnight local time while returning home from a friend’s house, according to news.com.au, Herald Sun and 9News. News.com.au and Herald Sun note that Kerr has five children.
In a press release, authorities, who did not identify the victim, said they were appealing for public assistance as no arrests had been made.
“It is believed the victim was riding an e-scooter on Scott Street when she was struck by a vehicle which was turning into Swan Street about 12: 20 a.m. on Sunday, May 10,” the statement read.

Officials added, “The car, a small white sedan, failed to stop at the scene and was last seen headed east on Swan Street.”
Police also shared a CCTV picture of the vehicle involved in the incident.
Victoria Police said there were no updates following PEOPLE's request for further comment.

Kerr was taken to the hospital with head and spinal injuries, according to news.com.au and Herald Sun.
The victim’s partner, Kayla Grech, told the press, “I’m very angry, very hurt, lost for words really,” per the outlets.

“Especially to leave someone like that on the side of the road. She’s an amazing person, she’s loving, caring. The best person you could ever ask for,” Grech continued.
Victoria Police Sergeant Emile Caggiati said the driver’s actions were “deplorable,” news.com.au reported.
“It’s appalling really, any motorist that leaves the scene of a collision where someone needs assistance, that behaviour is just deplorable,” Sergeant Caggiati added.
“Once you’ve realized that you’ve done the wrong thing, just make contact with police and we’ll work through it,” Sergeant Caggiati continued at the news conference on Sunday.
