Megyn Kelly Slams Olivia Rodrigo for Addressing Cornell Case

Podcaster Megyn Kelly has slammed Olivia Rodrigo for weighing in on the Cornell University gang rape lawsuit.

After Rodrigo, 23, shared a Sunday, October 4, Instagram Story that condemned the university amid a former female student’s sexual assault claims against seven fraternity brothers, Kelly, 55, did not mince words the following day.

“Olivia, in sum, you don’t know what the f*** you’re talking about. Shut up and stick to singing,” the former Fox News anchor said on the Monday, October 5, episode of her “Megyn Kelly Show” podcast. “I liked you better when you were in front of a microphone singing your weird little depressing songs.”

The journalist continued, “It’s better to keep your mouth shut and let people suspect you’re an idiot than to open it and prove them right. Ever hear that saying? It applies to you, sweetheart. We don’t need the participation of know-nothing morons who have been auto-tuned into fame and suddenly think they have something profound to say on the culture wars.”

Singer Olivia Rodrigo is standing with the unnamed victim of an alleged gang rape at Cornell as the local district attorney and school remain under scrutiny. “Shame on Cornell and on every institution who protects rapists and abusers over women,” the “good 4 u” singer, 23, wrote via her Instagram Stories on Saturday, October 3. Rodrigo’s Instagram Story had read: “Shame on Cornell and on every institution who protects rapists and abusers over women. I stand with Jane Doe. Her bravery reverberates across the country and the crimes against her will not go unpunished. What she lived through matters, and so does the failure of those who could have intervened but chose not to. She deserves answers, consequences, and lasting change.” (The former student is identified under the alias of Jane Doe amid her civil lawsuit against Cornell University, filed on September 16.)

On September 29, Tompkins County District Attorney Matthew Van Houten, who reopened the investigation, spoke to People about Doe’s case which claims she was brutally assaulted for at least seven hours in 2024 by the men despite never pressing charges. Van Houten told the outlet he believed “something untoward did happen” at the frat house on the night of the alleged incident.

Doe’s filing alleges that she was sexually assaulted at the Chi Phi fraternity house on campus in Ithaca, New York, on October 19, 2024. She claims that she went to the house after a night of drinking and was allegedly pressured to snort ketamine, smoke marijuana and drink alcohol before she was gang raped by the men.

Alleged group messages showed the fraternity brothers celebrating and advertising “free p****” at the time of the alleged rape. Doe, who was 20 at the time, reported the alleged incident to Cornell weeks later, but no criminal charges were filed. She later dropped out after Cornell allegedly declined to refund her tuition.
