Maya Hawke has found her "Home Sweet Home."

Months after marrying Christian Lee Hutson during a surprise wedding ceremony in New York City on Valentine's Day, the actress and singer, 27, tells PEOPLE the pair recently bought a house in upstate New York, right near her mom, Uma Thurman.

"I just got myself a home a couple of blocks away from my mom," Maya, whose dad is Ethan Hawke, says. "I'm so excited to finally be able to put some roots down."

Maya is filming her latest project, The God of the Woods, a television adaptation of Liz Moore’s bestselling 2024 novel, in the same area. "It shoots in the town that I grew up in," Hawke explains.

"I am so excited to be at home doing a job I love and care about, so I'm not in that panic spiral of being home and being like, 'When will I ever work again?' " she continues with a laugh. "Usually it's like, you're home, and you're panicked about whether you'll ever work again, or you're not home, and you're working and you miss home. I feel like I have the best summer of my life going on, where I get to experience neither thing at the same time."

During her winter wedding day, which was attended by her mom and dad, Maya wore a custom Prada wedding dress with an oversized and feathery winter coat, while Hutson, 35, kept things classic in a custom Prada tuxedo.

Some of Hawke's Stranger Things costars, including Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton and Joe Keery, were there to support the couple on their special day. (The group's appearance at the wedding came after their Netflix series wrapped weeks earlier on Dec. 31, 2025.)

The God of the Woods is currently filming in both the Hudson River Valley and the Adirondack Mountains. Maya stars as Judy Luptack, "the first female investigator in the male-dominated Bureau of Criminal Investigation, who’s looking into the disappearance of a 13-year-old girl from a summer camp," according to Netflix. Kerry Condon will star as Alice Van Laar, the missing teen’s mother.

"Based on The New York Times bestselling novel, The God of the Woods is a multigenerational drama series set in the Adirondacks," an official synopsis for the series reads. "It explores the Van Laar family’s dark secrets, class tensions and the mysterious disappearance of 13-year-old Barbara Van Laar from her family’s summer camp — in the wake of an earlier family tragedy that may be related. As the past and present collide, the Van Laars’ wealth and influence unravel, revealing the damaging consequences of privilege and the abuse of power."

Produced by Sony Pictures Television, Moore and Liz Hannah are serving as co-showrunners, writers and executive producers, with Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty executive producing for Original Film.

“We’re thrilled to be filming in the state that inspired the story and the region where it’s actually set,” Moore and Hannah said in a statement, per Netflix. “The Adirondacks have a fascinating history, and we feel inspired every time we’re there by the park’s beauty and complexity. We hope to do it justice on the screen.”

The God of the Woods does not yet have a release date. Maya's recently released Audible Original The Summer Oath is available to listen to now.
