Man United open to offers for FOUR academy graduates, Newcastle insist Arsenal have not made approach for Bruno Guimaraes, Nottingham Forest among list of clubs targeting Chelsea’s Liam Delap: WINDOW WATCH

It’s that time of the year again – the transfer window is now open until September 1 and it’s sure to be a busy period with clubs looking to make big signings ahead of next season.

Here are today’s latest developments from Simon Jones and the Daily Mail Sport team…

United youngsters attracting attention

Manchester United are open to offers for Harry Amass, Dan Gore, Toby Collyer and Radek Vitek.

Several clubs have already made enquiries for goalkeeper Vitek and left-back Amass for loans and permanent deals while Gore and Collyer could also go on loan.

They will continue to train with the first team until other members of the squad re-join following their break for the World Cup.

However, their regular game time after that is more likely to come with the club’s U21s so United are looking for them to gain more competitive action elsewhere.

Stones set for Inter medical

Inter Milan are expecting John Stones to undergo a medical on Thursday is ahead of his move to Italy.

The England international and his representatives are finalising terms over a free transfer and a two-year deal.

The 32-year-old is a free agent after leaving Manchester City and Inter are progressing in talks for Christian Romero from Spurs also.

Meanwhile, Chelsea defender Benoit Badiashile and West Ham’s Jean-Clair Todibo are on Napoli’s list as the Serie A side work on signing a new centre back.

Phillips edges closer to Blades return

Kalvin Phillips is finalising a new loan move to Sheffield United after being left off Manchester City’s squad list to tour Asia.

As Daily Mail Sport revealed last month, Chris Wilder is keen to re-sign the 30-year-old – who has two years left on his contract – despite a difficult loan spell last season.

Phillips made just three appearances for Sheffield United last term and was sent off on his last appearance for the club in the Steel City derby win over Sheffield Wednesday.

Phillips has endured a torrid time since joining City for £42million from Leeds United and is keen to kickstart his career.

Black Cats zero in on Methalie

Sunderland are continuing talks over a potential £26million deal for left-back Dayann Methalie from Toulouse.

As Daily Mail Sport previously reported, the France Under 21 international defender, who can also operate as a centre-back, emerged as a Sunderland target after previously attracting interest from Newcastle United.

But Regis Le Bris is hopeful Sunderland can bring him in on a five-year contract for what would be a record sale for Toulouse.

Forest putting out feelers for Famalicao’s Sa

Nottingham Forest are in talks to sign Portuguese attacking midfielder Gustavo Sa from Famalicao.

The 21-year-old was a target for Saudi Arabian clubs earlier in the year and West Ham this summer but Forest may now sign him and then send on loan to Olympiacos.

Sa was the captain of Famalicao last season, scoring four goals and claiming two assists from 34 appearances.

Tomiyasu training with Palace

Former Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu is training with Crystal Palace after the expiry of his contract at Ajax.

The Japan international was expected to extend his contract but is a free agent after making just nine appearances since moving to Amsterdam on a short-term deal in January owing in part to a hamstring injury.

The 27-year-old is training with Palace in Como as part of the club’s pre-season preparations and could feature in a friendly this week. He has had interest from Venezia and Sassuolu, too.

Palace are playing in the Como Cup. They face Lens, new manager Pierre Sage’s former side, tonight then take on Famalicao in two 45-minute games.

Bees eye Sarr signing

Brentford are weighing up a move for Tottenham midfielder Pape Matar Sarr.

The Bees were looking to strengthen their options even before news of Jordan Henderson’s proposed departure for Chelsea.

They remain in talks over 18-year-old Ousmane Diabate from Genclirbirligi, amid competition from Spurs, but the teenager is regarded as one for the future. They now want two more for the first team squad with Henderson heading towards Stamford Bridge.

Sarr, 23, has had interest from Turkey but would be open to remaining in London if, as it seems, his first team starting chances will be limited following Spurs’ purchase of Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.

Newcastle still waiting on Arsenal bid for Bruno

Newcastle United insist they have still to receive a formal approach from Arsenal for midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.

Arsenal have been preparing to make an official £70m-plus move for the Brazilian who is keen to join them but, so far, Newcastle sources say any proposals have come via the player’s agent.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe said at the weekend he was unsure what would happen over the 28-year-old’s future.

Delap in demand with Chelsea set to sign Welbeck

Nottingham Forest remain among the list of clubs showing interest in Chelsea striker Liam Delap.

Danny Welbeck’s pending arrival from Brighton is likely to leave fewer opportunities for 22-year-old Delap and clubs are enquiring to ascertain the deal required to sign the former Ipswich Town forward.

Forest, Everton and Newcastle United are just some of the clubs who have expressed interest in the former England U21 international.

Meanwhile, Forest have made an offer for Union Saint-Gilloise full-back Anan Khalaili as talks for Feyenoord’s Givairo Read also continue.

Both players are also appreciated by Bournemouth and Newcastle United.

Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen has left their camp in Australia ahead of joining sister club Strasbourg.

The 24-year-old Denmark international made 12 appearances for Chelsea last season and wants regular first team football.

On my Edson! Ajax want West Ham’s Alvarez back

Ajax are trying to re-sign West Ham midfielder Edson Alvarez.

The Dutch side sold Alvarez to West Ham for £35million in 2023 and now hope to buy him back.

West Ham want around £12.5m but Ajax sources say they are still owed money from the way payment was structured on the original transfer.

The 28-year-old, who has spoken to Ajax director Jordi Cruyff, spent last season on loan at Fenerbahce and was part of Mexico’s World Cup squad but has generally struggled to live up to expectations since leaving Amsterdam.

Real Sociedad are also interested in Alvarez but are proposing a smaller, structured deal.

Rock on Tommi to Meadow Lane

Aston Villa winger Tommi O’Reilly is in talks to join League One Notts County on loan.

The 22-year-old had been set to sign for Sheffield Wednesday but, after further discussions, Villa have decided Meadow Lane may suit his development better.

O’Reilly had an outstanding campaign with Crewe last season and Villa hope he can replicate that form under Notts County coach Martin Paterson.

Notts County also signed Australian forward Luka Smyth from Finnish top-flight side VPS yesterday for an undisclosed fee on a three-year deal.

Perri set for Italian job after Trafford deal

Leeds United goalkeeper Lucas Perri is expected to join Torino on loan with an option to buy once a deal for James Trafford is completed.

Trafford, 23, is poised to sign a deal worth around £130,000 a week once Manchester City and Leeds finalise details on an expected £40m transfer with £5m in add-ons and a sell-on clause.

Torino and Leeds have agreed an initial loan move for Perri for the coming season. The deal also includes an option to buy him permanently next summer.

Leeds goalkeepers Karl Darlow and Illan Meslier have left Daniel Farke’s squad to join Manchester United and Arsenal this summer.

They would still like another as cover as well as strengthening at left-back, attacking midfield and striker.
