It’s that time of the year again – the transfer window is now open until September 1 and it’s sure to be a busy period with clubs looking to make big signings ahead of next season. Here are today’s latest developments from Simon Jones and the Daily Mail Sport team…
Madrid say no to Enzo
Real Madrid have released a statement this morning saying they are not trying to sign Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez. Daily Mail Sport reported in recent days how Chelsea had not yet been contacted by Real to open formal talks centred on doing a deal for Fernandez, despite claims to the contrary.

Darlow weighing up offers from Premier League trio
Goalkeeper Karl Darlow has offers from Everton, Manchester United and Leeds United as he contemplates his next step.
The 35-year-old is a free agent after his contract ran down at Elland Road and enjoyed a strong season last campaign finishing as first choice after dislodging Lucas Perri as No1.
Darlow made 24 appearances last season and also had talks with Tottenham prior to them signing Martin Dubravka.
Leeds are pushing to renew terms as they want him to stay, though that will raise further doubts about Perri’s future while Illan Meslier is also out of contract and hoping to sign for Arsenal.

Karl Darlow has been at Leeds since 2023 and they are keen for him to stay
Leeds have also joined Aston Villa by enquiring after Parma and Japan keeper Zion Suzuki.
Manchester United are also keen on Wales international Darlow, but want to sell Altay Bayindir first to give them more financial headroom. Bayindir has interest from Besiktas, among others.
Everton have also come into play for Darlow as they want someone who can push Jordan Pickford further.
Stade Rennais make move for Mayenda
Stade Rennais have made a £22million offer for Sunderland forward Eliezer Mayenda.
The 21-year-old had limited game time last season and is open to moving to play more regularly.
Porto and Real Betis had also shown interest, but Stade Rennais have firmed up their interest with a bid for the Spain U21 international and talks are advancing today.
Sunderland bought Mayenda from Sochaux for just under £1m and the French side are understood to have a sell-on clause.
Mayenda scored Sunderland’s first goal in the 2025 EFL Championship play-off final at Wembley, equalising before they went on to beat Sheffield United 2-1 and secure promotion to the Premier League.
He then scored on his Premier League debut for Sunderland, the first goal in a 3–0 win over West Ham United.
United talks over Summerville
Manchester United have held exploratory talks with West Ham for winger Crysencio Summerville.
As Daily Mail Sport previously reported last month, Netherlands international Summerville is on United’s list but the current expectation is that Marcus Rashford would have to depart before they move for another winger.
United’s priority remains to add another midfielder after missing out on Mateus Fernandes who left West Ham for Tottenham this week in an £85million move.
