Major breakthrough in Chiefs coach’s domestic violence case weeks after he was arrested on eve of NFL Draft


The domestic violence case against Kansas City Chiefs defensive backs coach Dave Merritt has been dismissed without prejudice, according to online court records from Johnson County, Kansas.

Merritt was accused of ‘unlawfully, knowingly, or recklessly’ causing bodily harm to his daughter and charged with Class B person misdemeanor on April 23. He pleaded not guilty and was released on a $2,5000 personal recognizance bond.

The 54-year-old Merritt is married with five children, including one step child, according to his social media posts.
