Law Roach Drops Grudges but Keeps Receipts for Anyone Who Rejected Zendaya

Law Roach has finally let go of the grudges he held against designers who rejected Zendaya early in her career, yet his boycott against those same houses is still firmly intact. The stylist and actress have spent over a decade turning red carpets into cultural events, with every look sparking conversation long after the night ends. Their partnership has grown into something closer to family than a professional arrangement, built on years of loyalty from both sides. That loyalty is exactly what makes his latest comments about old rejections carry so much weight.

While Roach insists his pettiness has faded, the brands still barred from Zendaya’s closet suggest some lessons were simply too costly to unlearn.

Law roach still bans five fashion houses from Zendaya red carpet looks

Law Roach admitted that his resentment toward the fashion houses that once turned Zendaya away has softened considerably, though the doors he closed on them remain shut. During a candid sit-down, Ziwe Fumudoh pressed him directly on the brands missing from Zendaya’s rotation for years.

“You have an unofficial red carpet boycott on Saint Laurent, Dior, Valentino, Chanel and Gucci,” Fumudoh said on the You’d Be an Iconic Guest podcast.

To which Roach said, “I’ve released some of the grudges that I held, and I’m actually wearing Saint Laurent right now.”

Roach did not deny any part of that history, though his response leaned toward growth rather than resentment. He explained on the You’d Be an Iconic Guest podcast that holding onto grudges only makes a person less attractive, so releasing that weight became part of his own transformation. Asked whether Zendaya would ever wear those five houses again, his answer stayed a firm no. He had previously revealed on another program that those brands dismissed Zendaya as too new for their calendar, and that she wore Valentino publicly only once she had signed a formal contract with the house.

As grudges fade into memory, Roach’s real philosophy reveals itself elsewhere, in how he builds the very image Zendaya steps out in.

Law Roach breaks down his styling philosophy for Zendaya and Ariana Grande

Away from the topic of banned designers, Law Roach opened up on the Shut Up Evan podcast about the deeper mindset guiding his work with stars like Zendaya and Ariana Grande. He described wanting to instill genuine glamour into his clients, treating femininity itself as an art form worth honoring through every outfit choice. Zendaya, he explained, lives as an ordinary presence away from cameras, and that contrast is precisely what makes her transformations on the carpet feel so striking. Audiences respond to both sides of her, the familiar and the theatrical, which keeps every appearance feeling like a story unfolding in real time.

Roach sees Ariana Grande through a similar lens, describing her as grounded in private while her public persona blossoms into something closer to a fairy tale each time she performs. For him, clothing is never the actual goal but simply the vehicle for storytelling and confidence. That same philosophy explains why his standards for Zendaya’s wardrobe remain so exacting, and why certain designers are still waiting on an invitation that may never arrive.
