Kristen Stewart Recalled Being a “Pretentious Little Loser” in ‘Twilight’ Films


Kristen Stewart revealed that she was very serious while filming the Twilight movies. Now, whether serious or not, the Twilight movies became a massive success at the box office, earning billions worldwide. The franchise also catapulted its entire cast, including the Oscar-nominated actress, to new heights in their careers, allowing them to explore different genres and take on more daring roles in the future.

More than 15 years later, Stewart shared that she is now able to appreciate the films and has developed a perspective on them. Along with sharing her new opinion, the actress also recalled her mindset while working on the movies.

Kristen Stewart feels she was too serious while filming Twilight movies

Kristen Stewart recently appeared on the In Your Dreams podcast to talk about her upcoming movie, The Wrong Girls. During the conversation, the actress was asked about her experience filming the Twilight movies. She recalled how she was way too serious in her efforts to make the story feel real and best. 

“I was such a pretentious little loser trying to make it like the very best,” she said about the first film, Twilight.

“It was always like, “Oh my god, embarrassing. I just want it to be f****** real and it’s impossible. Everyone’s like making it f****** impossible for it to be like f****** real.”

Stewart further revealed that it was the same for the entire cast, including her co-star Robert Pattinson. However, looking back, she now appreciates the films and admitted that they were indeed real, while even calling them campy. She further said that she enjoys talking about the movies even now. Now Stewart might not be wrong, as the films are still much talked about and have remained classics for many fans even after all these years. 

No wonder, the cast still hope to be part of a Twilight reboot if the opportunity ever came to them. 

Kristen Stewart wants to direct a Twilight movie

While Kristen Stewart does not mind returning to the Twilight franchise, she might prefer to take on a different role in the movies. During a conversation on a podcast, the actress revealed that she would like to direct a Twilight movie if given the opportunity. She also recalled the work of the franchise’s other directors, including Chris Weitz, Catherine Hardwicke, David Slade, and Bill Condon, and admitted that she was impressed with what they did with the movies. 

“They were so themselves and weird and kind of like, squirrelly, and just so present in that time when they didn’t really know what they were yet, like before they blew up,” she said on the In Your Dreams podcast.

Stewart also seemed interested in returning to the franchise as a director. Previously, during Vanity Fair’s lie detector segment, Robert Pattinson, who starred opposite Stewart, also said he would be open to returning to the Twilight franchise if it were rebooted. He even joked about wanting to play a 17-year-old again. Now, Stewart’s new perspective on the Twilight films and her willingness to return for a remake show that the franchise still holds a special place in her heart and career even today.
