Killer on the loose after two women and toddler shot dead in Mississippi

Two women and a toddler were brutally killed in a triple homicide in Mississippi on Saturday as the suspect remained on the loose.

The three victims were fatally shot during the ‘horrifying’ crime at about 10pm inside a home on Queen Alexandria Lane in Jackson.

The victims were identified by the Hinds County Coroner as 25-year-old Keyana Weathersby, 30-year-old Erica Weathersby, and two-year-old Camari Givens, according to the Clarion Ledger.

‘Not only is it a horrifying and a vile crime – you have two women assaulted, and then, as we said earlier, it takes a coward to slaughter a toddler,’ Jackson Police Chief RaShall Brackney said.

Keyana, the 2-year-old’s mother, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head, the coroner said.

The toddler’s body was riddled with gunshots as he was struck multiple times in the head, face and arm.

Erica, Keyana’s sister and Camari’s aunt, also suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head and upper abdomen.

‘A defenseless toddler, just lying in their bed. So we really do need the community’s help on this one,’ Brackney added.

The police chief labeled the senseless act of violence as a ‘heinous crime,’ calling the shooter ‘an absolute coward.’

No arrests have been made as the suspect is on the loose. Police have warned the killer is considered ‘armed and dangerous.’

Authorities added the suspect fled in a red 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage with license plate HSI 205.

In a Facebook post, Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones urged the public to help with the investigation as he addressed the devastating killings.

‘Today, our community is grieving. Two women and an innocent toddler were taken from us in an act of violence that words can barely hold,’ he said in the statement.

‘A child who should have been safe in their own bed. Daughters, mothers, and a baby who deserved a lifetime still ahead of them,’ the sheriff added.
