Jesse Baird’s female housemates kicked him out over ‘issues’ weeks before he was allegedly murdered by Beau Lamarre-Condon: Trial live updates

Jesse Baird’s two female housemates kicked him out of their rental due to ‘disagreements about the way the house was kept’.

One of Baird’s Paddington housemates, known by the pseudonym Belinda Smith for legal reasons, told the court she initially lived with Baird at a larger share house in Drummoyne from 2022.

They were living in Drummoyne when Baird (pictured below) introduced her Beau Lamarre-Condon. She said Baird told her they were romantically involved.

When that lease expired, Ms Smith and Baird decided to move into their own place, along with Ms Smith’s female friend, known as Sarah King for legal reasons.

They moved into the property at Brown Street in Paddington on April 1, 2023.

Asked by Crown Prosecutor Brett Hatfield SC if she was friends with Baird, Ms Smith said: ‘We were cordial, but didn’t socialise outside the house.’

Ms Smith told the court that Baird said he and Lamarre-Condon had stopped seeing each other in early 2023, but she did see him at the Paddington house in August of that year.

During their brief conversation, Lamarre-Condon told her that he had booked a New Year’s Eve trip to Bali with ‘nice accommodation’ for himself and Baird.

Texts between Ms Smith and Ms King were read to the court.

In the texts, the pair were talking about Baird’s relationship with Lamarre-Condon.

One wrote: ‘Lots to fill you in on, Beau stayed last night lol.’

The other replied, sarcastically: ‘Just friends though.’

They commented about how Lamarre-Condon was driving Baird to Newcastle to collect a new car.

One housemate said: ‘[Oh my god] just as friends though lol pretty sure Beau lives with his parents.’

Ms Smith told the court she asked Baird about the nature of his relationship with Lamarre-Condon.

She mentioned the Bali trip and suggested Lamarre-Condon may take the relationship more seriously than he did.

In November 2023, Baird alleged to Ms Smith that he woke up one night and found Lamarre-Condon going through his phone.

She said Baird was ‘very angry’.

The court heard the lease was due to expire on March 29, 2024.

Ms Smith and Ms King wanted to renew the lease, but they wanted another female friend to move in and for Baird to move out.

‘Were there some issues about the way the house was kept?’ Mr Hatfiend asked.

‘Yes,’ Ms Smith replied.

She said Baird was initially upset when he was asked to move out because he had wanted to stay on the lease, but he agreed to find alternative accommodation.

Ms Smith told the court that conversation took place in January or February 2024 – just weeks before he died.

‘We remained cordial,’ she said.
