Jamie Lynn Spears is celebrating daughter Maddie’s latest milestone.
The Zoey 101 alum, 35, took to Instagram on Wednesday, August 19, to share several photos of Maddie, 18, and youngest daughter Ivey, 8, as the girls started college and third grade, respectively. The carousel featured snaps of Spears and her family in Maddie’s dorm room at the University of Southern Mississippi, as well as Ivey showing off her school uniform.
In one snap, Maddie wrapped her arms around her younger sister as the pair posed beside a bed. Another photo showed Maddie and Ivey posing with Spears and her husband, Jamie Watson.
“3rd grader & a COLLEGE STUDENT (definitely crying) 🤍🦅👯♀️😭,” Spears captioned the post.
Maddie also shared a carousel of photos from move-in day and wrote, “So bittersweet🥹🥹.”
Spears welcomed Maddie with ex Casey Aldridge in June 2008. She later tied the knot with Watson, 44, in 2014, and the pair welcomed Ivey four years later.

Earlier this year, Spears reflected on motherhood as she prepared to witness Maddie graduate from high school.
“Welp….the grad invites are sent, the cap and gown arrived, and the last regular day of school is here….I guess the lovely state of denial that I forced myself to be in has to end, bc the reality of time is coming at me like a freight train,” she wrote via Instagram in April. “I know the saying ‘the days are long, but the years are short’ is one of the most cliche sayings, bc it’s said so much, but I now know that cliches are only said so much bc they continue to ring true in every lifetime throughout the test of time.”

Spears continued, “Having the privilege of watching your children grow up is one of the most beautiful & fulfilling things we can experience as humans, and I am so grateful for each every up & down moment throughout the journey of motherhood this far. It’s bittersweet, bc you’re so proud of everything they have accomplished this far, and so excited to watch everything that their future will bring, while also longing for them to stay your baby forever.”
In June, Spears and Maddie sat down with People for their first joint interview, in which they gushed about their bond. (Spears announced her pregnancy with her first child at age 16, shortly after her hit Nickelodeon series Zoey 101 came to an end after four seasons. She and Alrdridge split soon after Spears gave birth to Maddie.)
“It really was just me and her,” Spears told the outlet. “I had to be like, ‘Look, this little girl needs you. You better figure it out.’ I wanted to create a good, stable life for my daughter.”
Spears also expressed how proud she was of Maddie as she prepared to start college.
“I’m so proud of her and everything she’s done, but I also cry in the car because I’m not going to have my baby home every day,” she noted. “She’s always going to be my baby.”
