Iñaki Godoy has taken his role as Monkey D. Luffy in Netflix’s live-action One Piece far beyond simply memorizing lines and stepping in front of the camera, as he never shuts up about pitching ideas. Since the series debuted, the actor has repeatedly spoken about his affection for Eiichiro Oda’s manga and his desire to understand Luffy as deeply as possible.
That enthusiasm appears to have translated into a rather unusual habit: putting together PowerPoint presentations to pitch ideas to the show’s creative team.
Iñaki Godoy has a hard time not pitching ideas
Iñaki Godoy’s approach to playing Luffy appears to be considerably more hands-on than simply performing the material handed to him. In an interview with IGN, the actor shared that he is always pitching ideas to One Piece showrunners, turning his thoughts about the character and story into something resembling a presentation.
“I love to pitch stuff. I always have ideas. It’s true I make PowerPoints that I present to my showrunners,” he said.

Godoy continued explaining how he suggests things from the manga that are not part of the original script and how showrunners Joe Tracz and Ian Stokes are always open to listening, which boosts him even more. The actor has played Luffy since the Netflix adaptation launched in 2023, and the actor has become one of the most recognizable faces of the franchise.
With the Straw Hats now moving into some of the manga’s biggest adventures, there is plenty more for Godoy to get passionate about.
