My favorite thing about using a Kindle is how easy it is to carry an entire library of books wherever I go. If I had to name a close second, it’d be all the opportunities to score free Kindle e-books.
And if free Kindle e-books sound good to you, too, then you’re in luck. At the start of each month, Amazon refreshes its First Reads program, which offers early access to a selection of new Kindle e-books across various genres. Each month, Prime members get to claim a free Kindle e-book from this collection, and a bonus short read, totaling two free Kindle e-books you can claim every month. Plus, the best part is that you keep these books forever. So if you’re keen on growing your Kindle library, this is an easy way to do it.
For February, Amazon has already updated its First Reads collection with nine new books to choose from. Additionally, it’s worth noting that if you’re not a Prime member, you can still look at the books; it just costs $2 to claim one instead of it being free, which isn’t a bad deal at all either. You can check out Amazon’s First Reads program below.

What are the books available through First Reads this February?
Remember, you also get a bonus free short read
As I noted above, there are nine books available this month through Amazon’s First Reads program, of which you get to pick one to receive for free if you have Prime, or pay $2 for if you don’t. The nine titles come from a variety of different genres, and usually, I narrow down my selection each month based on the types of genres I like to read, such as historical fiction or science fiction.
That said, here are the nine books available through First Reads this month, along with their genres:
- I Came Back For You (Genre: Psychological Thriller)
- The Water Women (Genre: Historical Fiction)
- First Witches Club (Genre: Contemporary Romance)
- No One Is Safe (Genre: Serial Killer)
- So Very Lucky (Genre: Book Club Fiction)
- Otherworldly (Genre: Science Fiction Adventure)
- Two Bodies are Better Than One (Genre: Police Procedural)
- Kissing the Sky (Genre: Historical Fiction)
- Sight Unseen (Genre: Fantasy)
Also, February’s bonus short read is Leave It Up To Love: A Short Story, which you can claim for free in addition to one of the books above.
I’ve been claiming free e-books from Amazon’s First Reads program for over a year now, and it’s definitely an underrated perk of having a Prime membership that’s helped me greatly expand my Kindle library. While fast, free shipping and Prime Video are the most popular Prime benefits, for avid Kindle e-readers in particular, the free books from the First Reads program every month sure are a nice bonus. If you haven’t checked out First Reads before, I highly recommend it, as it’s an easy way to have something new to read each month.
