Confronting CCTV has captured the terrifying moment a man and woman were mauled by a mastiff after it chased them down the street.
The frightening ordeal unfolded while the couple were out walking their dog in Arundel on the Gold Coast shortly before 6pm on Thursday.
CCTV from a nearby home captured loud barking, followed by blood-curdling screams for help, as the mastiff latched onto the couple and attacked.
Neighbours were seen racing to the couple’s rescue and managed to chase the dog away.
‘We need an ambulance,’ a woman was heard yelling.
A man aged in his 50s suffered lacerations and puncture wounds to his arm, while his wife in her 40s suffered wounds to her arm and hands.
The couple were rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital, where they have since undergone surgery for their injuries.
Relatives posted online that the couple’s dog is fine.

Gold Coast Council officers attended the scene afterwards to seize the mastiff.
They were seen returning to the owner’s home on Friday to drop a leaflet in their letterbox.
Warning signs about a guard dog were erected on the front fence.
‘Officers attended the incident at the time it was reported, seized an animal from the scene, and an investigation is now underway,’ a council spokeswoman told Daily Mail.
