Hilary Duff had quite a busy day before performing her sold-out show in New York City.
“My kids are here tonight,” Duff, 38, said during the Wednesday, August 5, performance in Madison Square Garden, per a clip shared by People. “I can’t believe I get to show them this. We were in the ER this morning getting some stitches for my 5-year-old.”
Duff shared that her daughter is “fine” after her trip to the hospital, assuring fans that “it’s all good.”
“But it’s very ‘our family-coded’ that I would be playing my first show at MSG and also be in the emergency room getting my kid stitched up,” she said, before sharing a sweet message for her daughter. “Mae Mae, you’re very brave.”

Duff shares Mae with husband Matthew Koma, with whom she has also welcomed daughters Banks, 7, and Townes, 2. Duff is also mom to son Luca, 14, whom she shares with ex-husband Mike Comrie.
While onstage on Wednesday, Duff brought out ex Joel Madden’s Good Charlotte for a special duet. (Duff and Madden dated from 2004 to 2006 and have been on friendly terms since.)
Duff was seen rocking out with Joel, 47, and brother Benji Madden while performing a rendition of 2002’s “The Anthem,” per social media footage. She also changed into a vintage Good Charlotte T-shirt to perform “Why Not” later in the show, per clips from In Style.
“FAMILY NIGHT @ MSG. CONGRATS @hilaryduff,” Benji, 47, wrote via his Instagram Story after the show, alongside a selfie with Joel, Duff and Koma. Joel’s wife, Nicole Richie, was also there to celebrate the evening as part of Duff’s Lucky Me tour.

Duff kicked off her Lucky Me tour, which features a setlist of Luck… or Something tracks and throwback hits, in June. She is set to return for a second show at MSG on Thursday, August 6, and head to the U.K., Australia and Canada before concluding her tour in Mexico City in February 2027.
“I am often asked how I still have my head on straight after growing up in this industry,” Duff said in a November 2025 press release announcing Luck… or Something. “The album title is my way of answering that question. It’s luck, but there’s also a lot of weight in the ‘ … or something.’ Many of the things I’ve been through along the way are held there, and I feel like ultimately that’s what’s shaped me.”
