Hardworking family’s beloved taco truck is completely destroyed after ‘speeding’ driver rear-ended them… as mom is thrown in air on impact

A family is recovering from multiple injuries and trying to piece their life back together after a pickup truck rear-ended their taco truck.

Tacos Villa, a family run birria taco truck, was crashed into by a pickup truck August 6 while it was parked in South Los Angeles.

Jose Silva, his mother, and his stepfather, who run the business, were all inside the truck preparing to close for the day and were injured in the crash.

Silva told KTLA that he is still recovering from the cuts and bruises he suffered in the accident.

‘Today, more than ever, I thank God for protecting them and for giving us the opportunity to remain together,’ he wrote on the business’ Instagram.

The collision, which occurred at 5.44pm, was so strong that it pushed the taco truck about 40 feet and threw Silva’s mother out of the vehicle, according to Silva.

‘It threw her out of the cab, and she landed about 6 or 7 feet from the van,’ Silva told KTLA in Spanish.

The family claims the pickup truck was speeding before making impact and was possibly involved in a street race.

The Daily Mail could not obtain comment from the Los Angeles Police Department regarding these allegations, but the investigation remains ongoing.

All three family members are recovering at home, but the accident left them with significant medical expenses and destroyed their primary source of income.

The Tacos Villa truck has been serving the local community for around three years and is no longer usable.

Unable to work, the family created a GoFundMe to help support them through the financial burden of repairing their damaged business and paying for their medical bills.

It wrote: ‘Tacos Villa is more than just a taco truck—it is a family’s livelihood and a small business built through hard work, dedication, and the support of their community.’

Other local businesses have spoken up to help shed light on the Silva family’s situation.

Mad cow Jerky, posted on their social media: ‘Can you guys please help with any amount. They have lost everything and are hurting.’

There is no indication of whether or not the Silva family plans to take legal action against the driver of the other vehicle, but the incident report states that both parties exchanged information.
