Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) achieves a significant expansion in the global AI research landscape by establishing the Institute of Foundation Models (IFM) and its new Silicon Valley AI lab. By creating a multi-site research network spanning Abu Dhabi, Paris, and now Silicon Valley, MBZUAI is strategically embedding itself in key hubs of AI innovation and striving to facilitate collaboration with leading tech companies, startups, and academic institutions.

The Institute of Foundation Models focuses on advanced AI systems — such as PAN, a world model capable of simulating complex and multimodal environments, and JAIS, the most advanced Arabic large language model. The institute also emphasizes transparency, as exemplified by initiatives like LLM360, which open-sources training data and development processes.
