Thursday night’s WNBA game between the New York Liberty and the Dallas Wings has been postponed after the Liberty were struck down by travel chaos.
The rare cancelation of a game comes after New York’s players got stuck on the tarmac, and leaves thousands of fans furious just hours before tip-off.
In a statement posted on X, the WNBA said that the postponement was due to ‘travel delays caused by mechanical issues with the New York Liberty’s charter flight.’
Hitting back, one fan commented: ‘We can’t find another plane??’, while another added: ‘The one game I come to Dallas for and now can’t even see it.’
A third added: ‘Dang, this sucks.’
The Wings had sold thousands of tickets for the game, which was set to bring the likes of two-time MVP Breanna Stewart and four-time All-Star Sabrina Ionescu to Texas.

Fans in Dallas have been left fuming after the game – involving Sabrina Ionesu and Breanna Stewart – was postponed at short notice
The game was postponed just after 10:30am local time, with the tip-off originally slated for 8pm on the same day.
Instead, the Liberty-Wings fixture will take place on Monday night, with the Wings honoring all previously-bought tickets for the new date.
The game would have seen the fourth-placed Dallas Wings hosting the eighth-placed New York Liberty as the race for the playoffs continues.
New York is on a barren run having lost seven of its last 10, while the Wings have won seven of its last 10.
