Family of a young man, 22, fatally stabbed on NSW Central Coast share heartbreaking message

A young man who was fatally stabbed after he stepped off a bus and allegedly became involved in a fight with a teenager has been identified by his family.

Zane Robson, 22, was found by emergency services on Mann Street in Gosford, on the NSW Central Coast, on Tuesday about 7.30pm.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Gosford Hospital where he later died.

Inquiries are continuing to locate a teenage boy seen in the area at the time of the incident who may be able to assist police with their inquiries.

‘No family is ever prepared for a loss like this,’ a relative said in a GoFundMe.

‘On the evening of 28 July 2026, our family was devastated by the sudden and tragic loss of a much-loved son, grandson, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend.

‘At just 22 years old, his life was taken far too soon in an [alleged] senseless act of knife violence in Gosford.’

NSW Police have established Strike Force Volaru to investigate Mr Robson’s death.

Superintendent Darryl Jobson, District Commander of Brisbane Water Police District, said investigators believe it was a targeted attack.

‘We believe the [people involved] were known to each other,’ he said.

‘There is no broader threat to the general community.’

Officers have identified a 15-year-old boy they want to speak with.

‘We’d call upon that young male to contact police so we can safely bring him into police custody to continue with our inquiries,’ Superintendent Jobson said.

‘I’d also appeal to anybody that may know the whereabouts of this young person to contact police.’

He is 175cm tall, of medium build, with short dark hair. He was last seen wearing a vest over a shirt and long pants.

It’s understood the attacker used a 15-centimetre blade.

‘We haven’t seized the knife that we believe was involved in the incident, but we will be continuing further searches in that vicinity to try to find the weapon,’ Superintendent Jobson said.

‘We have identified a number of witnesses and statements have been taken.’

More than $4,000 was raised in the first four hours of fundraising for Mr Robson’s family.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on.
