Antony Starr is set to return to the screen soon. This time, however, he will not be playing Homelander. The actor, best known for portraying the antagonist in The Boys, is returning with a fresh role and a new story in Netflix’s psychological thriller Breakers. The show was announced in February 2026, and since then, the streaming giant has continued to reveal details about the cast and crew. 

Produced by Clerkenwell Films, the same company behind the Netflix hit Baby Reindeer, Breakers has already gained much traction. So, here is everything to know about the plot, cast, and release date of the upcoming series.

Plot of Netflix’s Breakers

The upcoming Netflix show Breakers will follow two best friends who set off on a backpacking trip across Australia. However, along the way, the two friends get involved with a seemingly ideal surf community led by a charismatic but mysterious man. Initially, they are welcomed into the community, and they enjoy the freedom.  

However, when a group member disappears, the two realise that the group is not what it appears to be. The psychological thriller series will focus on friendships, relationships, and much more as the two friends get involved with the group. As intriguing as the plot is, the show also brings an impressive cast. 

Cast of Netflix’s Breakers

Antony Starr: The actor is well known for his roles in The Boys and Banshee. He will reportedly play the role of the mysterious man, Brando. As per What’s On Netflix, Starr is also an executive producer on the show.

D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai: Many might remember the actor from his previous famous role as Bear in the FX series Reservation Dogs. He is expected to play the role of Eliot.

Annabel Wolfe: Annabel Wolfe is well known for her roles in Black Snow, Seven Snipers, and My Pet Dinosaur. She is expected to play the role of Harper. 

Other cast members of the show are Oliver Edis, Asher Yasbincek, Sherry-Lee Watson, Brodie Townsend, David Howell, Tyroe Muhafidin, Tom Dawson, Lu Miller, and Eliza Learmonth. 

Release date of Netflix Breakers

Netflix has confirmed that Breakers will be released globally in 2026. However, according to the X account, The Boys Out of Context Clips, filming for the series wrapped in June 2026. Now, given the timing, the show could arrive toward the end of the year, potentially in November or December. 

The show will reportedly feature 8 episodes for its potential first season. So, fans should not have to wait too long. When it arrives, viewers can look forward to the series exploring surfing, friendship, and unexpected dangers.
