Emily Blunt has emerged as one of the top Hollywood draws, a feat achieved on the heels of performances such as Katherine “Kitty” Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, Evelyn Abbott in A Quiet Place, FBI agent Kate Macer in Sicario, and many more. These performances are a masterclass in themselves and an undeniable testament to her acting prowess. While certain section of Hollywood only sees her as a bankable name, the other one celebrates her brilliance with awards and accolades.
One such award she is set to receive now is the prestigious Kirk Douglas Award for her outstanding contribution to cinema.
Emily Blunt set to receive Kirk Douglas Award
Among many awards that various film festivals have announced, Emily Blunt is slated to receive one of its major honors. The 19th annual Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film has been announced to be presented to the Academy Award nominee by the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
Marking a major highlight for the winter festival circuit, Emily Blunt will be feted at a high-profile black-tie gala in Santa Barbara on December 10, 2026. The award honors her celebrated screen career – highlighted by her Golden Globe win for Gideon’s Daughter and her SAG Award-winning performance in A Quiet Place – while directly supporting the organization’s ongoing educational initiatives.
“Emily Blunt takes risks most actors wouldn’t dare, moving between drama, comedy and blockbuster spectacle with the same precision and commitment,” says Michael Douglas.
“That range and authenticity are exactly what the Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film was created to celebrate. We’re proud to honor her,” he added.

The Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film has been given to a lifelong contributor who has worked in front of the camera, behind it, or both since 2006. Cynthia Erivo, Will Ferrell, Ryan Gosling, Michelle Yeoh, Martin Scorsese, Hugh Jackman, Judi Dench, Warren Beatty, Jane Fonda, Jessica Lange, Forest Whitaker, Robert De Niro, Michael Douglas, Harrison Ford, Quentin Tarantino, Ed Harris, and John Travolta are among the previous recipients.
The honor comes after Emily Blunt delivered an exceptional performance this year in Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day.
Emily Blunt shined as an actor in Disclosure Day
Emily Blunt received some of the best reviews of her career this summer for Steven Spielberg’s science fiction epic Disclosure Day, in which she costarred with Josh O’Connor as Margaret Fairchild, a Kansas City TV meteorologist whose increasingly bizarre experiences force her to make a broad effort to uncover the existence of extraterrestrial life. Blunt is able to use her entire range in this part, alternating between humor, terror, uncertainty, vulnerability, and astonishment.

Blunt’s career reached yet another high point with this performance. She was nominated for a Golden Globe earlier this year for her performance alongside Dwayne Johnson in Benny Safdie’s The Smashing Machine, and she received her first Oscar nod as Kitty Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan’s best picture winner Oppenheimer.
