Don’t expect Mikey Moore back at Rangers next season if Spurs get relegated

Mikey Moore is not against the idea of going back to Rangers on loan again next season.

The 18-year-old winger is a fans’ favourite and is one of the first names on the team-sheet. He knows he has a good thing going at Ibrox. The prospect of extending his loan from Tottenham could well be beneficial to all parties.

He would have another season of guaranteed first-team football. Another year of development. He spoke this week about how winning the title and potentially securing Champions League football could well entice him back to Glasgow.

Rangers have already held initial talks with Tottenham and stated their desire to keep hold of Moore for another season. But there’s one major problem. The fact that Tottenham are such a basket case at the moment means there’s no guarantee of anything.

Their squad is a mess. A major clearout is expected in the summer. They could yet be playing football in the English Championship next season.

Roberto De Zerbi will want to make a judgment on Moore himself come the summer and the start of pre-season. A talented young winger who came through the academy at Spurs, it’s not difficult to see Moore thriving in De Zerbi’s attacking style of play.

Spurs will no longer view Moore as one for the future. He’s more than good enough to be part of their squad right now.

Whilst he has built a strong connection with Rangers fans, any notion of him being back at Ibrox next season feels like a bit of a pipe dream.
