Disclosure Day had a great debut this past weekend, notching $44 million through Sunday, making it the biggest opening weekend for a Steven Spielberg original movie ever.
The movie follows several characters who are fighting to reveal the existence of aliens to the wider world, and stars Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo and Colin Firth. The film was a hit with critics as well as audiences, earning an 81% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Given its strong opening weekend performance, it may come as some surprise that Universal has already made this film available to pre-order, not just on streaming but on 4K UHD and Blu-ray as well. Here’s what we know so far about Disclosure Day’s move to the small screen following its theatrical release:
Pre-orders for Disclosure Day are already available on several major platforms
Currently, the release date is TBD, but late summer seems likely
While we don’t have an at-home streaming date yet, Disclosure Day is now available to pre-order digitally on several major platforms, including Apple TV and Fandango at Home for $30. For those who would like a physical and digital copy, pre-orders for the film in both Blu-ray and 4K UHD as well as a special edition steelbook (which all include a digital copy) are also live at Walmart and Amazon
Currently, none of these pre-order pages contain a release date, but if Universal’s typical 7-weekend blockbuster theatrical exclusivity window holds, we’d imagine that these digital editions will be available to stream sometime in late July or early August, with the physical editions arriving sometime this fall.
When will Disclosure Day be available to stream on Peacock or Netflix?
Before the end of the year for Peacock, next year (maybe) for Netflix
If you don’t mind waiting awhile to watch this movie, Disclosure Day will also eventually be able to stream free for Peacock subscribers before the end of the year, as it is a Universal release which puts it under the umbrella of Peacock’s parent company, NBCUniversal. Currently, we’d expect this to mean a late fall or holiday debut for Disclosure Day for Peacock subscribers given the trajectory of other Universal releases, which often take several months to hit Peacock.
Eventually, Disclosure Day may also hit Netflix, as several other Universal releases have gone on to the service around a year after their original theatrical releases. For instance, Wicked: For Good, which released in theaters in 2025, is scheduled to hit Netflix this July. If that same pattern holds we could see Disclosure Day stream free for Netflix subscribers in mid-2027.
