‘The Wonder Years’ star shares Draco with her ex-husband Mike Verta

Danica McKellar is throwing it all the way back for her son’s 16th. 

In a post shared on Instagram on Monday, Sept. 7, The Wonder Years star, 51, marked her only child Draco’s milestone birthday with a series of recent and throwback snaps, including the first-ever photo she took with him.

The sweet photo saw McKellar cradling her son in a hospital bed as she gazed down adoringly at him. The little one was swaddled in a white blanket and wearing a white hat as his mom wrapped her arms around him.

“How is my baby 16?? 🥲❤️,” McKellar’s caption began. “Here’s the first picture I ever took with you, and the most recent, and then lots of pictures in between!”

The proud mom then gushed over her teen son, writing, “Draco, I love you so much and I’m so proud of the (tall!) young man you’ve become!! Happy birthday!!!! 🤗🤗.”

The first photo in the carousel was followed by the most recent shot of the pair, with Draco towering over his mom as they posed in smart attire.

While McKellar wore a knee-length gray dress, skinny black belt and matching heels, Draco sported a crisp white shirt, dark suit and light blue tie. 

Other photos included more baby snaps, Draco joining his mom at a red carpet event as a child and him showing off his very impressive piano skills in a clip. 

Along with music, the teen also appears to have a love for math, with McKellar sharing a snap of a young Draco writing out equations on a chalkboard. 

The actress shares Draco with her ex-husband Mike Verta. The former couple married in March 2009 and welcomed Draco in September 2010. 

They announced the birth of Draco in a statement shared with PEOPLE at the time, saying, “We are humbled, overjoyed and so grateful for this miraculous gift. It’s like we’ve only now just learned the true meaning of love.”

McKellar filed for divorce from Verta, a composer, in June 2012.

Earlier this year, McKellar shared an unexpected story about her birth experience with Draco.

While appearing on Bobby Bones’ The BobbyCast podcast in March, she recalled being encouraged to try her placenta by her doula following Draco’s arrival.

“My doula said, do you want to taste the placenta? I’d just given birth,” she said, adding that “you’re not in your right mind” after going through the birthing process. 

“And I’m like, sure,” she continued. “She gave me a piece of it. Bobby, it was like the best filet mignon that I have ever tasted. But more.”

“I was embarrassed about how much I loved it,” she said. “It was bizarre. I thought, what is this, some sort of weird satanic…”

Interrupting, Bones, 46, jokingly added, “Am I a cannibal?”
