A little Dancing With the Stars controversy couldn’t prevent Dedication Night from being an emotional night for the cast.
During the Tuesday, October 20, episode of ABC’s reality show, cohost Alfosno Ribeiro started the show by briefly acknowledging Val Chmerkovskiy’s absence from the ballroom.
“As you can see, Alan Bersten is with Jenna Dewan because Val is not with us this week,” Ribeiro, 55, shared. “Tonight, we’ll see the personal side of these 10 stars as they dedicate their performances to a person or place, which has had a profound impact on their lives. And they’ll be incorporating some of those special people in their routines.”
Over the weekend, fans learned that Chmerkovskiy, 40, would be suspended for a week following a controversial post about judge Carrie Ann Inaba. He has since publicly apologized for his post.
During Tuesday’s show, the contestants were judged by Inaba, 58, Derek Hough, Bruno Tonioli and guest judge Kym Johnson.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing all the feeling and emotion on the dance floor,” Johnson shared before giving Ezra Frech and Daniella Karagach the first 10 of the season. “But I hope you all remember to embrace the moment because nights like this are really special.”
The evening was extra special for contestant Tyler Cameron and his fiancée, Tate Madden, who announced they are expecting their first baby.
Throughout the night, America cast their votes for their favorite dancing pairs. In a surprise twist, however, Ribeiro and his cohost, Julianne Hough, announced nobody would be eliminated on Tuesday.
“On such a special night, we didn’t want anyone sent home,” Julianne, 38, shared before teasing a double elimination on October 27. “All the scores will be carried over to the next week.”
Dancing With the Stars airs on ABC Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET. Scroll down to see each couple’s scores from Dedication Night:
