The United States Marshals Service and Virginia State Police are continuing their search for missing high school football coach Travis Turner nearly one year after he disappeared into the local wilderness amid accusations of child pornography and soliciting a minor.
Neither agency had any new leads to report when contacted by The Washington Times, but both the Marshals and Virginia police insist the search remains active, as does the case against Turner.
‘[Unfortunately], we do not have any new information to share at this time,’ a Virginia State Police spokesperson told The Washington Times.
Turner, 46, has been missing since fleeing his home in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, days before it emerged police wanted him for 10 alleged child sex offenses: five counts of child pornography and another five counts of using a computer to solicit a minor.
Police were actually en route to his home on November 20 when they learned he had left the residence. The married father of three was last seen heading into the Appalachian woods while carrying a firearm. There have been no confirmed sightings of the former Union High School coach since his disappearance.
The Virginia State Police responded to more than 178 leads as of late March, according to an agency update at the time. Of those leads, 17 were submitted anonymously.

Meanwhile, the US Marshals are offering up to $5,000 for information that leads to Turner’s whereabouts.
Turner’s family has encouraged him to return home.
‘The family of Travis Turner continues to cooperate with law enforcement efforts to locate Travis. Their homes and properties have been searched multiple times, with their consent,’ read a December statement from family attorney Adrian Collins.
‘While the family’s last contact with Travis causes them to have great concern for his well being, they cling to the hope he will be found and afforded the opportunity to defend himself in a court of law.’
Turner left home without his car, keys, contact lenses, glasses, wallet, license and cash, according to Collins.
Union High School went on to win a regional championship while improving to 12-0 after Turner’s disappearance last season. The Bears’ season ultimately came to an end with a 21-20 loss to Glenvar High School in the state semis.
This season, under new coach Jamie Harless, Union is 4-2.
