Chelsea complete £7.5m Emiliano Martinez signing: Argentina star could start TODAY as he vows to help the Blues ‘win titles’ after sealing move from Aston Villa

Emiliano Martinez has vowed to help Chelsea win titles after completing a £7.5m move from Aston Villa – and could be thrown straight into the starting line-up.

The Blues confirmed the arrival of the 33-year-old on Sunday morning, with Martinez signing a three-year deal.

Martinez is understood to be eligible to immediately represent Chelsea against Brighton today, with sources telling Daily Mail Sport that the goalkeeper was registered before the deadline.

Martinez had to be officially signed before 12pm on Friday. Though the club only announced his arrival on Sunday morning, we are told he was secured in time.

Despite rumours of an injury, Martinez also said in his unveiling that he is fit and ready to go.

It is up to Xabi Alonso who he uses against Brighton, with Mike Penders also in contention. Martinez’s arrival is expected to see Robert Sanchez leave. Sanchez conceded two avoidable goals against Fulham last weekend.

‘I’m delighted to be at this football club,’ Martinez said.

‘Coming to Chelsea, for me and my family, was an easy decision to make and I’m just over the moon – I can’t wait to get started.

‘I want to be successful here. I’m someone who wants to win at everything I do and I want to bring that here to this football club because it’s a football club that wins titles, so I think it’s a good match.

‘I’m all passion and I play with my heart. I will give 100 per cent every game, every training session to make the club, my teammates and the supporters proud.’

Martinez has been surplus to requirements at Aston Villa since the club signed Zion Suzuki from Parma earlier this month.

Martinez saw a move to Juventus collapse earlier this month despite an initial £6million offer, with Unai Emery happy to press ahead with Suzuki and Marco Bizot as his goalkeeping options.
