Cartoon Duck-Inspired Apparel : Disney x Karl Lagerfeld

Disney x Karl Lagerfeld return with a whimsical new capsule collection featuring Donald Duck reimagined in the unmistakable image of the late designer himself. This marks the second collaboration between the two iconic brands, launching May 23 across Karl Lagerfeld stores, select Disney retailers, and online at Karl.com and Disneystore.co.uk.

At the heart of the collection is a rare 2004 hand-colored sketch Karl Lagerfeld created for Donald Duck’s 70th anniversary. The drawing depicts the temperamental cartoon bird dressed in Lagerfeld’s signature black blazer, high-collared shirt, dark sunglasses, and even a feathered ponytail. The artful mashup reemerges across a lineup of bomber jackets, jeans, sweaters, casual blazers, and accessories like backpacks, sneakers, scarves, and umbrellas.

First debuted at Disneyland Paris with a limited 3,000-shirt run, the sketch has achieved cult status among collectors. Its revival now ties into the fashion house’s ongoing strategy of merging archival design with pop culture icons.
