An associate linked to the notorious rap group OneFour has been shot dead in what police have described as a targeted attack in south-west Sydney. 

Alai Ahio, 28, was at a home on Arbutus Street in Canley Heights with four other men when they were ambushed by at least two attackers armed with guns and knives on Tuesday night. The attackers fled the scene in a white SUV. 

Ahio was driven to Liverpool Hospital suffering from gunshot wounds shortly before 8.30pm, where he died a short time later.

A second man, 32, was taken to the same hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

A short time later, two other men – aged 23 and 22 – also presented to nearby Fairfield Hospital in serious conditions.

They were later transferred to different hospitals for further treatment.

Less than 90 minutes later, a fifth man, 19, presented at Liverpool Hospital with arm injuries. He remains in a stable condition.

Police are now investigating whether the attack on Ahio is linked to the Coconut Cartel, a breakaway gang locked in an underworld crime feud with the Alameddines.

Two vehicles used to transport the injured men to hospital have been seized.

The Canley Heights home remained a crime scene on Wednesday, as detectives and forensic officers scoured the cordoned-off street for evidence.

Broken glass littered the front of the two-storey red brick home, where multiple evidence markers were seen in the garage and inside the property.

Police are investigating links to the Alameddines and Sydney’s underworld.

The hunt for the two attackers who fled in a white SUV continues. 

‘We believe this was a targeted attack although the motive is unclear. We are aware of some organised crime links,’ Superintendent Craig Middleton said.

‘It is very brazen, violent attack, and it is of concern to the community and of course the police, so we are doing everything we can with the resources we have available across the south-west region.

‘The State Crime Command, homicide and Strikeforce Falcon are all involved in this enquiry, and hopefully we can identify these offenders.’
