Caitlin Clark was forced to leave the Indiana Fever’s game during the first half in troubling scenes for the WNBA superstar.
The Fever faced the Dallas Wings in a heavyweight showdown between Clark and fellow former No. 1 pick Paige Bueckers on Friday night.
However, Indiana was left fearing the worst when Clark limped off the court and headed towards the locker room with an apparent injury with under a minute left in the first half.
Clark appeared to have suffered a lower leg or foot injury after colliding with a Dallas Wings star.
The 24-year-old star stepped on Wings forward Alysha Clark’s foot while trailing on her defense.
Clark appeared to be in immediate pain as she grimaced and hopped on her right leg while pay continued.

She initially attempted to walk it off and stay in the game but Fever head coach Stephanie White pulled her out, subbing her for backup point guard Tyasha Harris.
Clark was then captured hobbling towards the locker room as the final minute of the first half ticked down.
The 2024 No. 1 overall pick had nine points, four assists and three rebounds when she left the floor.
However, the Fever appeared to have avoided any major scare when Clark re-emerged after halftime.
She came out and warmed up as usual before starting the second half with nothing appearing to be amiss.
The scare comes after Clark and the Fever were dealt a devastating blow last year when the star’s season was cut short through injury.
Clark went down July 15, 2025 with a right groin injury that forced her to miss last season’s All-Star Game and the All-Star weekend festivities in Indianapolis.
She also had to sit out Indiana’s final 22 regular-season games and its incredible run to the WNBA semifinals.

Clark first returned to the court for Team USA in the FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifying games in early March, then helped the Fever open the preseason with a 109-91 victory at New York despite a 2-for-10 shooting performance.
Meanwhile, this season, Clark has found herself at the center of a number of foul controversies.
Clark has been targeted by opposing players across the league since the Fever chose her with the first pick of the 2024 WNBA Draft with the controversy reigniting in recent months.
Phoenix Mercury star Alyssa Thomas punched her in the throat as Clark lay on the court during a game against the Fever in June.
The shocking incident sparked outrage across the country as fans argued that Clark is not receiving protection on the court from WNBA officials.
She was also floored by Las Vegas Aces player Chelsea Gray in an incident that was reviewed by referees for a ‘hostile act’.
Clark tried to defend Gray during the second quarter of her team’s 109-75 victory, but as she tried to stop her from getting her shot away, the Aces star appeared to use her left elbow to strike her midriff.
