A four-year-old boy has been seriously injured after he was hit by a Range Rover as the child crossed the road.

The harrowing incident took place in Gillingham, Kent, yesterday afternoon.

Kent Police said the young boy was crossing the road when a black Range Rover knocked him down.

Paramedics and officers rushed to the scene before the child was taken to a hospital in London with serious injuries.

He remains in hospital.

Now, the force is urging witnesses, including drivers with dashcam footage, to come forward.

In a statement, Kent Police said: ‘Witnesses are sought following a serious collision involving a child in Gillingham.

‘At around 4.12pm on Friday 3 July 2026 a black Range Rover was involved in a collision with a young pedestrian on Nelson Road.

‘The 4-year-old boy was reported to have been crossing the road prior to the collision.

‘Officers and paramedics attended the scene and the child was taken to a London hospital for treatment for serious injuries. He remains in hospital at this time.

‘The road was closed while an investigation was completed and officers from Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are now appealing to anyone who saw what happened, or has relevant dashcam footage, to come forward.
