Human remains have been found in the desperate search for a mother who mysteriously vanished.
Jana Armstrong, 30, was last seen at a unit on Gordon Avenue in the Toowoomba suburb of Newtown, in south-east Queensland, on Tuesday, July 7.
Her white Hyundai Kona was found on the corner of Jellicoe Street and Gordon Avenue about 6am on Wednesday.
Queensland Police released an update on Sunday that a body had been in bushland off Esk Hampton Road at Redbank Creek on Saturday night.
‘The remains are yet to be formally identified; however, investigators believe they are those of Jana Armstrong,’ a spokesman said.
‘Investigators are in contact with Ms Armstrong’s family. Forensic examinations and investigations are continuing.’
A 48-year-old man has been taken into custody and charged with one count of murder (domestic violence offence).
He is due to appear at Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Monday.

‘Police continue to appeal to anyone with information, or anyone with relevant CCTV, dashcam or other vision, to contact police,’ the Queensland Police spokesman said.
