A young mother has died in a car crash, just a few years after miraculously surviving another traffic collision that left her in a coma for several months. 

Brittany Gondoly, 25, passed away on August 26, five days after the horrific accident in Kansas. She leaves behind her 13 siblings and three-year-old daughter, Harper.

Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office said the tragedy unfolded just after 2pm on August 21, when Gondoly’s Chevrolet Trailblazer crashed into a Chevrolet Silverado pickup at an intersection in Andale, about 26 miles northwest of Wichita.

First responders rushed to the scene at 53rd Street North and 279th Street West, and took Gondoly to hospital along with a 20-year-old man who was driving the Silverado.

The unnamed male driver suffered serious injuries but is expected to survive. Gondoly died from her injuries five days later. 

The sheriff’s office is still investigating the crash. They said detectives believe ‘the Trailblazer failed to yield to the westbound Silverado before the vehicles collided in the intersection’.

Gondoly leaves behind a huge family. Her heartbroken relatives remembered her as a ‘free-spirited, kind, and loving person who cherished her family more than anything’. 

‘Above all, she loved being a mother to her three-year-old daughter, Harper,’ they wrote on a fundraising page to cover her funeral and medical expenses.

‘Harper was Brittany’s world, and the love she had for her daughter was something everyone around her could see.’ 

Her siblings said she had been involved in another car crash as a teenager, which she survived after being in a coma for several months. 

‘She was in the backseat of a pickup. They left a football game and she laid down on the backseat to sleep,’ Gondoly’s brother Justin Faulk told CBS affiliate KWCH. 

When she woke up from her coma, she faced a long road of rehabilitation. 

‘Even I don’t know if I would have the strength to do it, but she made it through, she was a miracle,’ said her sister, Amanda Cunningham. 

Cunningham described her sister as ‘the joy that walked into the room’ and as a person who was ‘always happy’. 

Gondoly’s final act was to donate her organs, something her family have said has brought them comfort as they grieve.  

‘Now, she is donated, and other people will be able to keep going. So she’ll still be here,’ her mother, Wanda Pell, told KWCH. 

‘It means a lot, it helps a lot of us,’ Cunningham added. 

‘We also get to be notified of who potentially gets a match. And we’ll be able to talk to them and meet them in the future. So that gives us hope.’

The family’s fundraiser states that Gondoly did not have life insurance, and they are hoping to raise $12,000 for her medical and funeral expenses.

No arrests have been made in connection with the car crash. The Daily Mail has reached out to Andale Police for further information.
