Aussie woman, 19, dies after being hit by a car while walking through shopping centre carpark – as police question 19-year-old male driver

A 19-year-old woman has died after being hit by a car in a shopping centre carpark.

Emergency services rushed to the Bentley Plaza carpark, off Albany Highway and John Street in Perth’s east, about 11.30pm on Saturday.

The teenager was transported to Royal Perth Hospital by ambulance, where she later died.

The driver of a blue Hyundai i30 hatchback, a 19-year-old man, is assisting police with inquiries.

WA Police urged anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers.

Mark Bulagsak was inside the shopping centre at the time of the collision and returned to the carpark to find his car had been hit in the smash.

His boot suffered significant damage.

‘I went to Spudshed for like five, six or eight minutes and when I came out there was already an ambulance,’ he told the West Australian.

He said he walked out and ‘saw there was some damage to the rear part’ of his car and that there were paramedics giving someone CPR.

‘(I didn’t hear anything) because I was on a call with my girlfriend … (I feel lucky) because I could have been in the car.’

Forensic officers remained at the scene on Sunday morning.

The Hyundai was seen being towed about 9am with severe damage to its front.
