‘At least I’m not botched’: A $2,679 dinner bill at Sokyo shatters Sydney friendship group… You’ve seen the TikTok drama. Now we reveal the strip club meltdown, surgery shaming and legal threats that really tore them apart

TikTok has seen its fair share of messy friendship break-ups, but few have unravelled quite like the spectacular falling-out between two western Sydney wedding industry professionals.

What began as a dispute over an alleged $500 shortfall from a lavish birthday dinner at swanky Japanese restaurant Sokyo has escalated dramatically over the past 48 hours, with cake maker Adam Sabbouh, better known as Cakes by Adam, and celebrity makeup artist Sherree Morris trading bitter accusations after their private rift erupted into an all-out online war.

After days of mud-slinging, marathon TikTok livestreams and deeply personal allegations, both former friends have spoken to the Daily Mail, with each insisting the other is responsible for taking the feud too far.

According to Adam, he accepted an invitation to Sherree’s 36th birthday dinner at Sokyo at The Star on June 21 on the understanding that the 13 guests would each pay $185 for the set menu, with drinks charged separately.

He claims the final bill came to $2,700, leaving an unexpected shortfall of about $500.

The 23-year-old, from Chester Hill, says he should not have been expected to cover the additional cost after paying what had originally been agreed, buying his own drinks separately and gifting Sherree a custom-made birthday cake worth about $1,000.

Sherree disputes his version of events and provided a receipt showing the bill totalled approximately $2,679.23, saying Adam never contributed to the additional expenses.

‘There were 12 people at the dinner. It was a set menu and the understanding within the group was that each person would transfer their portion directly, which was $185 per person, with any drinks then added separately depending on what each person ordered,’ she said.

Adam claims the disagreement escalated after Sherree became upset about the outstanding balance and aired her grievances publicly rather than speaking to him directly.

In a fit of anger, he admits posting a photo of the birthday cake alongside the caption: ‘At least I’m not botched’ – a retaliatory remark he now says was immature and regrets making.

However, he denies Sherree’s claim that the ‘botched’ barb was a reference to an overseas breast reduction surgery that left her critically ill. He said he would never joke about something like that and was instead referring to Sherree’s second Brazilian butt lift.

‘She did nearly die from the boob reduction she had done in Turkey, and the surgeon that did it for her didn’t clean his tools so she got a rare infection that nearly killed her,’ he told the Daily Mail.

‘But I wasn’t referring to that.’

Sherree vehemently disputes that explanation, saying she understood the post to be a direct reference to the incident in Turkey, which she says resulted in severe complications, including infection, sepsis, septic shock and a haematoma.

Having previously spoken publicly about the ordeal and how she nearly died, she says seeing her medical trauma dragged into an online feud was devastating.

‘I almost died,’ she said. ‘To turn that into a joke for social media was incredibly cruel.’

According to Adam, Sherree responded to his ‘botched’ remark by publicly exposing his own history of cosmetic surgery during TikTok livestreams.

Adam claims Sherree shared a photograph of him taken before he underwent gynaecomastia surgery, also known as male breast reduction.

The incident was so upsetting that Adam contacted police.

‘She posted a shirtless photo of me prior to my surgery,’ he said.

‘She made remarks about my business, so I went to the police. They told me they couldn’t do anything about it and to speak to a lawyer.

‘So that’s when I retaliated and jumped on a livestream. My intention was to expose her to the same number of people that she exposed my surgery to.’

Sherree disputes many of Adam’s allegations and insists she did not instigate the online conflict. As for why she exposed his ‘man boobs’ surgery, she said she was simply retaliating after he publicly mocked her medical trauma.

Adam also admits making hurtful comments about Sherree’s relationship with her son, saying he now accepts those remarks went too far.

Meanwhile, Sherree strongly denies Adam’s allegations that she is anti-Muslim, describing them as the most false and damaging claims made during the dispute.

She says accusations that she ‘hates Muslims’ sparked significant online abuse, while Adam’s comments about her relationship with her school-aged son caused distress after videos of the feud circulated among his classmates.

Sherree also alleges Adam publicly shared her phone number, leading to ongoing harassment, and says she is pursuing the matter through legal channels.

The former friends both insist they have evidence supporting their respective versions of events. The Daily Mail does not suggest either party is correct, only that they are engaged in a public dispute.

While Sherree says she was ultimately left about $800 out of pocket after covering costs from the dinner and drinks, she denies repeatedly chasing Adam for money or engaging in a prolonged confrontation over the bill.

‘To reduce this to a simple dinner bill disagreement is false and highly misleading,’ she said.

Adam, meanwhile, believes the birthday dinner only escalated into a major drama when the group later continued on to a strip club.

According to his version of events, Sherree became upset after unexpectedly running into a former romantic partner and was later seen outside the venue visibly distressed.

He claims the incident soured the remainder of the evening and ultimately led to Sherree seeking reimbursement for part of the dinner bill.

Adam says he was unfairly targeted after refusing to pay more than his agreed share and maintains his subsequent online attacks were a knee-jerk reaction to what he viewed as a public vilification campaign.

Sherree, however, argues that screenshots, recordings and timestamps support her version of events and demonstrate that the timeline has been widely misunderstood.

‘I am now pursuing this as a harassment and civil defamation matter in relation to the online conduct that followed, including posts and statements made about me publicly,’ she said.

‘I reject any attempt to frame this as though this all stemmed from me “chasing” someone over dinner money. The issue is not the dinner itself; it is the sustained online harassment, the public attacks on my name and business, and the publication of defamatory allegations that followed.’

For now, neither side appears willing to back down.
