Apple’s September event could finally bring foldable iPhone and new Apple TV 4K ‣ Diverse Daily

It’s that time of year again.

Apple has just announced that its next big product event will take place on Wednesday, September 9 at 10 am PT/1 pm ET. This year’s invitation features a glowing Apple logo with sunlight shining through it, accompanied by the tagline “Surprise and shine.”

While Apple hasn’t yet said what it will showcase at the event, given that it’s taking place in September — and the company has a long history of launching new iPhones this time of year — its newest iPhones are sure to be the stars of the show.

Apple is heavily rumored to be announcing three new iPhones: the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the most anticipated of them all, its first-ever foldable iPhone, which could be called the iPhone Ultra.

What you may have noticed is that the base iPhone 18 is missing from that list. That’s because Apple is reportedly set to shake up its usual release schedule, releasing only its Pro-level iPhones this fall and pushing the iPhone 18 to spring 2027, with the iPhone 18e and iPhone Air 2.

But besides iPhones, the Cupertino-based company is also expected to announce a few other devices at its September event, and there’s one in particular I’m hoping it finally reveals.

A new Apple TV 4K is coming

Could September 9 be the date we finally see it?

While Apple is rumored to also announce the Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4, and AirPods 5 at its iPhone event this September, there’s another device the company could announce that’s long overdue: a new Apple TV 4K.

The last time Apple launched a new Apple TV 4K was nearly four years ago, back in October 2022, when it introduced its current third-gen model.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman recently reported that Apple has a new Apple TV 4K “nearly ready to launch,” with sources he spoke to at the company saying it “will be ready this fall.” That means Apple could announce it at its September event, open pre-orders shortly after, and launch it later that month or in October.

Given how long it’s been since Apple released a new Apple TV 4K, I think it would make sense for the company to give it a bigger spotlight at its iPhone event rather than simply announcing it via a press release later in the year.

There’s another reason why a September announcement would make a lot of sense, too. Apple is expected to focus heavily on Siri AI at the event. This is the company’s long-delayed, AI-enhanced version of Siri that’s finally set to launch with iOS 27. And since one of the new Apple TV 4K’s expected features is support for Siri AI and Apple Intelligence — something the current model doesn’t support at all — showcasing a new Apple TV 4K and what it can do with Siri AI during the event would make a lot of sense to me. But, of course, that’s just speculation on my part.

Whatever happens, Apple’s next big event is set for September 9, so there’s only two more weeks to go before we find out what the company has in store.
