Apple Weather is back online after unprecedented downtime

UPDATE 3:20 PM EST — The outage has been resolved and Apple Weather should be working again.

UPDATE 2:06PM EST — Apple has finally acknowledged the issue with its product status page now displaying a red triangle next to the Apple Weather icon.

As someone who plans their entire day around the heat and rain, I rely on the Apple Weather app (most specifically, its home screen widget) to keep me informed about conditions outside. However, myself, like other users in the United States, have been experiencing problems accessing the Apple Weather app on Tuesday afternoon.

Apple weirdly has not acknowledged the issue, with the official product status page currently displaying a green light next to the Apple Weather icon. However, with reports pouring in from X and Reddit about the app not working, hopefully they’ll have more information about the outage soon.

Multiple Pocket-lint contributors in both the United States and Canada were unable to access the app at all, though one person was able to get it to load after a brief delay.

For now, users may want to switch to Accuweather, The Weather Channel or another similar app while this app is experiencing downtime.

Has the Apple Weather app ever gone down before?

Not that anyone can seem to remember

The Apple Weather app is one of those apps I confess I rarely even think about, just because it’s always there on my home screen, and it always just works. As users on Reddit have pointed out, this app has never gone down before, and the fact that it is not working now for some unexplained reason is more than a little unnerving. We’ll keep you posted if and when the app comes back online!
