Apple TV is finally releasing its iced 2025 thriller next year ‣ Diverse Daily

One of Apple TV’s most-anticipated TV shows from last year is finally, officially, going to see the light of day. The Savant, which was shelved back in 2025 just three days before it was due to premiere, has officially been pulled out of the freezer by Apple TV and is now set to debut on the service next year.

The series follows an undercover investigator known as The Savant (played by Academy Award-winner Jessica Chastain) who infiltrates online extremist groups to stop large-scale planned acts of violence before they happen. The series is inspired by a news article titled “Is It Possible to Stop a Mass Shooting Before It Happens?” which was featured in a 2019 issue of Cosmopolitan.

Though never explicitly confirmed, many theorized that the series was quickly pulled from Apple TV’s release calendar due to the shooting death of Charlie Kirk last year. In a statement to Deadline about the quick schedule change, an Apple spokesperson said: “After careful consideration, we have made the decision to postpone The Savant. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to releasing the series at a future date.”

While some were concerned that this meant The Savant would never see the light of day, it looks like we finally know when this series, which was originally planned for 2025 will debut on Apple TV.

When will The Savant be coming to Apple TV?

Though Apple TV still hasn’t set a firm release date just yet, the streamer has confirmed this week that The Savant will debut next year during its spring TV slate. This could mean a premiere for the series anywhere between March to May 2027, and final release dates will likely depend on when other high-profile Apple TV shows end up hitting the service.

What else is coming to Apple TV in 2027?

More Slow Horses and Silo have been confirmed

In addition to The Savant, there are several highly-anticipated series that are set to debut on Apple TV next year. The final season of Silo has been confirmed to be releasing next July, and another outing with the Slow Horses team will arrive in the fall. Outside those two confirmed releases, a new season of Foundation has also been largely rumored to be hitting the schedule sometime next year.

One of the biggest questions surrounding Apple TV’s 2027 slate is if blockbuster series Severance will return for its third season next year. Filming began earlier this year and is rumored to be wrapping in December, which means a late 2027 release could potentially happen. However, I wouldn’t hold my breath as a spring 2028 release seems much more likely. Even though this will make for an almost three-year wait in between seasons, if there’s one series Apple TV fans are willing to wait for, it’s Severance.

Similarly, awards darling Pluribus also finds itself in a holding position as production started earlier this year on a second season of the critically-acclaimed hit from 2025. And while fans would probably like nothing more than a 2027 debut for season 2, a 2028 premiere for the next installment of the Vince Gilligan-directed series seems a lot more likely given the series’ need for extensive post-production.
