Apple held its “Welcome home” event in New York City last week, where the tech giant unveiled a trio of new home products, including its HomeView smart display, HomePod mini 2, and, finally, a new Apple TV 4K.
But that’s not all Apple has up its sleeve this month.
The company has just announced its second product event for October, this time with the tagline “Pro and tell.” The event is set for October 28 in Los Angeles. Apple marketing chief Greg Joswiak teased it on social media with a video showing what appears to be an Apple logo being drawn on a touchscreen.
Apple is rumored to reveal several new products at the event, including its first-ever touchscreen MacBook Pro, which likely explains the “Pro and tell” tagline.
Here’s everything you can expect to see when Apple pulls the curtain back on October 28.
A new era for the MacBook Pro and iPad Mini
OLED upgrades are expected to finally arrive
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the star of Apple’s October 28 event will be the company’s new 14-inch and 16-inch touchscreen MacBook Pros with OLED displays, the first time Apple has added a touchscreen and an OLED display to a Mac. These new models are also expected to replace the notch camera cutout with a Dynamic Island, similar to the latest iPhones, and run on Apple’s M5 Pro and M5 Max chipsets.
In addition to the touchscreen MacBook Pro, Apple is also expected to reveal new iMacs powered by its M6 chipset, as well as a new entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro with the same design as current models, also powered by the M6. Apple already revealed its M6 chipset in August, when it announced the new Mac Mini.
Beyond new Macs, Apple is also expected to announce its long-awaited iPad Mini refresh at its October 28 event, which will reportedly feature an OLED display, a new speaker system, and a repositioned front-facing camera for landscape video calls.
The biggest question surrounding the revamped iPad Mini is whether its new OLED display will run at 60Hz or support ProMotion up to 120Hz. I have my fingers crossed for the latter, as ProMotion makes such a huge difference in how smooth the display feels.
Fortunately, with Apple’s “Pro and tell” event now officially set for October 28, we don’t have to wait much longer to see everything revealed.
