Annastacia Palaszczuk’s surgeon partner investigated by police over sexual assault allegation

Annastacia Palaszczuk’s long-time partner is being investigated over allegations of sexual assault after police raided his million-dollar Gold Coast unit.

About half a dozen officers, including forensic police, descended on surgeon Reza Adib’s Norfolk building at Burleigh on Thursday afternoon.

Dr Adib, 59, has not been arrested or charged. The Daily Mail does not suggest these allegations are true, only that police are investigating.

Palaszczuk, Queensland’s former premier, is not understood to be involved in relation to the investigation.

Multiple sources have told The Australian the ongoing police investigation relates to allegations of sexual assault.

Palaszczuk, who launched her new memoir The Politics of Being Me on the Gold Coast on Thursday night, was asked about the police investigation.

‘I’m not aware of any of that, so I can’t comment,’ she responded when asked by a member of the crowd at Robina Library.

The former premier wrote in the book that she felt ‘blessed’ to share her life with Dr Adib, his two children and dog, Winton.

‘We’re very happy,’ she told the Daily Mail, just one day before the raid.

The couple have been dating for more than two years.

Palaszczuk, 52, went public with the relationship on September 3, 2021, ending months of speculation that the pair were dating.

Dr Adib, a general and laparoscopic surgeon, began his career at the Royal Brisbane Hospital in 1994 and established the Brisbane Obesity Clinic in 2004.

Brisbane Obesity Clinic’s website boasts Dr Adib has performed more than 20,000 operations and more than 5,000 weight-loss procedures.

‘Police declared a crime scene at an address in Burleigh Heads (on Thursday) as part of an ongoing investigation,’ Queensland Police said in a statement on Thursday.

‘Detectives and specialist officers attended the address on Goodwin Terrace around 11am and investigations are ongoing.’
