The church’s senior pastor, Brian Houston, said in 2015, “Hillsong Church welcomes ALL people but does not affirm all lifestyles. Put clearly, we do not affirm a gay lifestyle and because of this we do not knowingly have actively gay people in positions of leadership, either paid or unpaid.”

And while Zoe Church hasn’t officially spoken out against the LGBTQ community, its founder, Chad Veach, told the New York Times in 2018 that he modeled the institution on Hillsong, where he used to preach.
