You probably also know that she was once married to Chris Pratt. They separated after eight years together in 2017 but have since remained dedicated to co-parenting their son, Jack, who was born in 2012.
For context, Jack hasn’t always had it so easy. He was born nine weeks prematurely and suffered a cerebral hemorrhage at birth, meaning he spent the first month of his life in the NICU undergoing numerous surgeries. Anna wrote in her 2017 memoir that the period after Jack’s birth was “emotionally exhausting,” recalling, “Chris and I did what we could, which was hold hands and hope and face it together.”
Chris and Anna do give occasional updates on Jack, who’s now 13. However, people have noticed that his famous parents have seemingly limited the amount they share about him on social media as he gets older, which is totally fair enough! The pic below is of Chris and Jack watching a Seahawks game in February this year.
Which brings us to now. On Wednesday evening, Jack made an incredibly rare red carpet appearance with his mom at the LA premiere of Scary Movie, the latest installment in the comedy franchise starring Anna alongside Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, and Regina Hall.
The teen looked more grown-up than ever in a classic black suit and white dress shirt, while Anna stunned in a black sequin gown with cut-outs. The mother-son duo was also joined by Anna’s husband, Michael Barrett, and his daughter Margot.
As far as I can tell, the last time that Jack and his mom appeared on a red carpet together was in July 2017. And look how much has changed!!!
Though we don’t often see Jack, it sounds like he’s thriving. Ahead of his 12th birthday in 2024, Anna said during an appearance on Today that she was “loving” that particular age. “You miss it sometimes when you look at old photos,” she said. “Although he told me that he thinks he has armpit hair. So, it’s happening.”
Well, now I feel old! I love these two.
